You know what you need to do. You can see the task sitting right there. And yet — you can't start. Or you started three other things and now none of them are done. Or you forgot the thing entirely, even though you told yourself a hundred times not to forget.

This is executive dysfunction, and for adults with ADHD, it's often the most debilitating part of the condition.

What are executive functions?

Executive functions are the mental processes that help us manage ourselves and our resources in service of a goal. They include:

ADHD directly affects the prefrontal cortex — the part of the brain that runs all of these processes. It's not a matter of willpower or motivation. It's neurological.

What this is not

OT for executive function is not about making you more neurotypical. It's not "just make a to-do list." It's personalized, practical, and grounded in an understanding of how your specific brain works. We start with what matters to you and build backwards from there.

If you're an adult in Illinois or Florida navigating ADHD without the right support, we'd love to talk. Virtual sessions are available, and a free 30-minute consultation is the first step.
